Oh dear god, I am not quite ready for this thread. I will speak of last year.
We hosted a big fat family Christmas last year (25 people) and it was down to the final hour before we could confirm it was possible. (Covid)
It was a beautiful day.
We bought a real tree from the local Christmas tree farm early December. We all decorated the house together it was great to finally celebrate something special.
Buddy the dog pee’d on the tree.
On DH’s side we do the traditional roast turkey, ham and all the trimmings. MIL makes her mother’s (DH’s Nanna’s) plum pudding recipe and lemon sauce.
Leading up to Christmas, it is tradition that we as a family watch Christmas movies. Christmas vacation is a favourite. We have a Clark Griswold bobble head we bought in America years ago. He sits on our mantle.
My dad is German so we celebrate Christmas with them on Christmas Eve. This year we will have a new family member as my sister is due to have her baby son in less than a month. She has a two and a half year old daughter so it will be lots of fun.
When I was a child we used to get beautiful advent calenders from Germany. As I got to teenage years, they started having chocolate behind the windows.
