Several months ago I booked a nice holiday to Tasmania, flying with Virgin. I was due to leave on June 19 (yesterday).
About a week ago they cancelled my flight and put me on an alternative which was not legally possible (as it involved overnighting in Melbourne which is against Covid rules for going to Tas). I phoned to get an alternative and the best they could offer was to travel next Tuesday 22nd. I accepted that. A few days later Tuesday was cancelled and I was offered Wednesday 23rd. I accepted that. Today Wednesday’s flights were cancelled and I was offered Thursday. Given that this brings my planned 10 day holiday down to 5 days I am going to have to cancel completely.
Waaaahh! Virgin why did you have to cancel pretty much a whole week of flights? Surely hundreds of people are missing their holidays because of this? It’s not covid rules preventing me going, just their commercial decision to cancel flights. And every time I switch on the TV there’s those ads about how we should all be taking a holiday in Tasmania or some other lovely far flung part of Australia. Yeah nah.
Now I am looking for somewhere quiet for a change of scenery that I can drive to from Canberra, any great ideas? I’d just want to do some bushwalking and eat nice food.
