Oh I am so sorry to hear that Richard Parker, I hope the pain eases up soon. Can you get more pain killers from your GP? Not that you should have to though!
I had my gall bladder out when DD3 was a baby, and DD2 was a toddler. DH didn’t take time off work to help care for the kids, because his aunt knew people who’d had the same surgery, and they were fine (apparently one was a guy and he was back at work 2 days later!) Without DH’s help, I had to lift and carry DD3 to care for her. DH wouldn’t even acknowledge the medical discharge notes that said no lifting. We broke up for a short period after that because I was so angry at his lack of empathy, and he moved in with his aunt during this time.
A few years later DH’s aunt had to have similar key hole surgery (not gall bladder removal) and she actually apologised to me afterwards because she then realised how hard it was to get up and down after they’d made cuts right through your muscles - she even acknowledged how much harder it would have been if she’d had to care for young kids.
