I’m not following it. Makes my blood boil too much so avoiding it. But its terribly sad that the world has come to this, and yet its just history repeating.. witch trials anyone?

It’s just so awful I don’t even know what to think anymore. How can you have legislation which literally allows women to be arrested and interrogated for voicing their own opinions but on the other hand actual death threats against them are completely acceptable, even encouraged and welcomed? I don’t understand how more people aren’t looking at these things and being shocked how we have reached this critical point in basically complete silence. It’s dangerous for everyone, not just for women they may or may not agree with, but it also shows the rapid and silent erosion of freedom of speech and protection from violence. Where is everyone in power? Why are they not speaking out? Why are they not fighting against it? Where is our representation and protection? Is it because they want to look good and kind and inclusive? Not wanting to upset the loudest voices? Is that more important than women’s safety and listening and trying to understand all views, seeing things how they really are, not just how you want them to be?

It’s because the trans lobby is so powerful, so vicious - you have to have JK Rowling levels of wealth and status to withstand it. There are so many examples of women losing their jobs, being removed from boards etc just for stating biological facts. We’re not imagining it. I didn’t really understand why it’s happening/ but it definitely is.

I heard a theory that pharma companies are pushing trans agenda because they make a lot of money on the drugs and surgeries. I think links were found between big pharma and Stonewall in UK. That was the best ‘why’ Ive heard that makes sense to me. Of course then trans and non-binary people who benefit jump on the bandwagon and men who hate women bend it for their own needs.

Sabrina I suspect a lot of ordinary people don’t really know what’s happening. Most of what I know I’ve learnt from here/old EB or Mumsnet, not from the mainstream news.

That’s a good point actually, I’m exactly the same. It’s not till the gaps in the information you’re getting starts making you feel uneasy that you start to look at things from both sides. Then of course you’re made to feel like a criminal even for asking questions, let alone finding out answers, which is very off putting!

Initially I was really uncomfortable with any kind of discussion about the subject. It felt transphobic and unkind. I’ve changed my view after a lot of reading. Of course everyone still needs to be kind, and people can do and wear what they want. But it’s OK for women to set boundaries, for biological categories to be used and for words to mean something.
