I’ve saved money WFH; commuting, lunches, coffee, no before or after school care, no vacation care. I didn’t think I was a big spender at all but those things just add up and your bank balance looks much better, it is noticeable, like having a wage increase every week.
I haven’t had to take any sick leave to look after the kids and if I have something minor I can just work anyway (major things I’d take leave though). I’ve had fridges delivered, beds, had electricians in and fire inspections. All those things I’d normally have to take leave for I just open the door for now and keep working:
The actual work, if I get something urgent, I can keep going to get it done without a long commute at the end of the day so you don’t have to worry, can just get it done, which is a lot less stressful than worrying about trying to get it done the next day or trying to organise getting the kids picked up.
I can prep dinner at lunch or throw some washing on so we eat earlier then get more free time later. If DH is WFH we can sneak out for a kid free coffee or quick lunch which has been great. WFH has been amazing with a tonne of benefits I’d never even considered before it started, a definite win for me!
