Its a yay from me, I think its a great idea, although obviously it does need to be done with consideration of those who fear or are allergic to dogs. Interesting little tidbit about a prison inmate training a companion dog… I wonder if theres a bit of two birds one stone there, given that from what I understand theres a fair number of people in prison who suffered trauma or are otherwise mentally unwell.

There’s a tv show about that @wannabefree I can’t bear to watch it - it makes me cry. Prison inmates paired up with dogs to train. Then the dog sent out into the world. Beautiful but sad.

I think that’s interesting, I think there may have been a bit of over reaching as to the capacity of a dog to hold magical powers to ensure smooth running of a trial though. There are many people who love dogs however are also also people who are afraid of dogs, who are allergic to dogs, who are easily distracted or find the need to try to be aware of where a dog is may be hinder them from performing their role in court as well. There’s all kinds of people involved in court proceedings, it’s complicated and demanding and high pressured and they all need to be considered as well. Also I though the author saying that there are only two types of people dog lovers and psychopaths meant there was a bit of personal bias there! 😂

Great idea. In the aftermath of the Cudlee Creek bushfire they had therapy dogs at all the town meetings and at the recovery centre. One of our local primary schools has just employed a full time therapy dog to help calm students.
