At the Motherboard forum our intention is provide a space for robust but respectful conversation and we try to moderate with that in mind. While we support free speech, we will also delete posts that are racist, homophobic, sexist, transphobic, ageist or ableist. We don’t pre-moderate posts and we ask that forum users report any posts that break rules. There may be times when posts are not obviously breaking any rules but are still disruptive or offensive. Let us know if that happens and we’ll take a look at it.
We may lock threads that break our rules but we won’t routinely delete locked threads unless there’s a clear reason not to leave the thread publically available. We do not automatically delete threads that individual posters find annoying or triggering.
If threads are locked we will explain why, where appropriate. Please don’t restart closed threads or restart arguments in other threads. If we delete one of your posts we will try to contact you to explain why.
Do not make personal attacks on others. Play the post, not the poster.
Do not post illegal material or information relating to current court cases. Don’t encourage others to do so either. We will delete any pornographic content.
No trolling, doxxing or spamming. If you suspect someone is trolling, contact a mod rather than engaging with them. If you see spam or believe a poster has been doxxed, please let a mod know.
We may ban posters who break our rules or who are persistently offensive to other posters. In most cases, we will warn you before banning.
Our feminism section allows for broad discussion of feminist issues, including gender critical feminism and radical feminism. Sexist, transphobic or abusive posts are not allowed. We ask all posters to treat each other with respect even when discussing contentious issues and to avoid name-calling, attacking other groups of people, and denigrating other people’s appearance.
