Because my life is VERY exciting, I have chosen 10.30 on a Saturday evening to tell you all about my next gardening project 😆!
I live on a corner, so I have lots of nature strip. The council in my area is big on native trees so we have two very thirsty gums on one street facing, and two or three, I dunno, bottle brushes maybe, on the other. The grass looks atrocious, especially under the gum trees. The council is supportive of nature strip plantings, especially with native plants.
So, with the help of a friendly local landscaper who delivers wood chips for free to get rid of them, I am going to get rid of almost all the grass and replace it with mixed beds of several varieties of Lomandra, poa grass, kangaroo paws, clipped correa bushes, rhagodia, broad-leafed myoporum as groundcover near the road and the footpath, and maybe some small little delights like fringed vanilla lily and stylidium (triggerplant). I also found some beautiful 4cm thick Redgum rounds to use as stepping stones between the footpath and the gutter - I won’t cover every single centimetre with plants, gotta leave some access for wheelie bins and getting out of cars!
Anyway, those are my plans! Will update with photos once I start, assuming I can ever get the upload function to work for me!
