My sister and I have been going to MICF for years - of course all shows were cancelled last year.
Tonight I saw my first three shows for this festival and there has been a silver lining for us - we are seeing more local comedians than usual.
Tonight was a podcast recording (Dum Dum), Geraldine Hickey and then Matt Stewart. All great shows.
Tomorrow two more live podcasts - DoGoOn and Don’t You Know Who I Am.
Next weekend Kirsty Webeck, Tom Ballard, Nath Valvo and a joint show with Josh Earl and Ben Lomas called Apparently. I might talk my sister into adding Greg Larsen’s 1 man show about life on the dole in the Howard era (he’s very left wing).
Then finally Daniel Sloss on the final weekend - I’ve seen every show he has brought here starting in a small room in a dank old nightclub to the Arts Centre this time around.
We would normally see Wil Anderson but this year he is repeating Wilegal which we have seen (although he says it’s different and better now with some more time passed since his arrest in that flight to Wagga).
If you are in Melbourne and can support some live performance please do.
